PERMEABLE PAVERS

Inca Concrete pavers are extremely dense units which possess exceptional strength and durability, superior stability under severe loads, and are unaffected by the extremes of heat and frost. Each unit has joints that allow for a small amount of movement without cracking. Inca pavers will last for decades.

Pavers can be applied in both residential and commercial settings, including surface coverings for driveways, parking lots, promenades, sidewalks, pool decks, patios, streets, golf cart paths and even roof gardens. Interlocking concrete pavers are a sensible and aesthetically attractive choice for all outdoor surfaces. These pavers are manufactured at the Inca factory in Eerste Rivier to tight dimensional tolerances. These concrete pavers are stronger than regular poured concrete surfaces and more durable than black asphalt. The segmental paving system allows for expansion and contraction without producing surface cracks, unlike monolithic concrete surfaces and stamped concrete.

Pavers are easy to maintain. Regular sweeping and occasional rinsing are usually the most maintenance needed. For heavy soiling, pressure washing with appropriate cleaning solutions (re-sanding of joints will be necessary) or a simple spot treatment with a brush, cleaner, water and some elbow grease will solve the problem.

One of the fastest growing approaches to greenside development is permeable paving. There are a variety of options of permeable concrete paving, but all operate on the same principle: to allow rainwater to seep through a paved surface which naturally cleanses pollutants and recharges aquifers instead of having the storm water run onto other properties and into storm drains.

Because engineered curb and gutter storm drainage systems are costly to design and build, permeable pavement systems can often reduce overall construction costs. Permeable pavement systems typically cost more than conventional pavement, but any additional paving cost is offset, at least in part, because there is less need for storm water management infrastructure. Catch basins, stormwater ponds, curbs, gutters and storm drains can be eliminated or downsized. As a result, permeable paving has become a standard part of most developed countries offerings.

AQUAFLOW

Dimensions: 200x100x80

Strength: Class 2.0/ 3. MPA or Class 2.6/40 MPA

Weight: 3.4 kg

50 per square meter

The Aquaflow block is one of the interlockings permeable pavers that Inca Concrete Products manufacture under license in South Africa. It has the structural support and stability of traditional concrete pavers, combined with the environmental benefit of storm water management.

Aquaflow permeable paving and storm water source control system. All the Aquaflow blocks and slabs provide drainage through vertical channels and will allow water through the surface at a rate of approximately 9000 mm per hour (9000 litres per m2 per hour). Aqua flow paving system delivers immediate environmental benefits and financial savings, when compared to traditional drainage. The system can also be used to harvest and reuse all water that falls on hard surfaces such as roofs and car parks, representing additional environmental benefits and cost savings.

Over the past 15 years the “Hanson Formpave Aquaflow” system has become the flagship design for permeable paving. The unique subbase cleans pollutants from runoff, creating a safe, pH neutral water for storage and re-use within the subbase. Water can be captured from all impermeable areas, roofs, paths and driveways.

It can be further stored in a tank and then pumped out for all exterior uses, gardens and car washing. Inca Concrete Products hold the block design and methodology rights to Aquaflow Permeable Paving and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) in the Western Cape. Hanson’s Formpave offer is an affordable solution to the challenges of stormwater disposal and treatment and water conservation, recycling and reuse. The entire Aquaflow range can be made from special aggregates, and with special colour surface finishes on special order.

BENEFITS OF THE DEVELOPER

A safer surface that’s easier to grip.

Minimizing stormwater management issues simplifies planning.

Eliminating collection and detention areas increases the effective developable area.

A better appearance because permeable paving eliminates the need for ugly surface runoff measures.

Lower maintenance costs because surfaces require fewer repairs and need to be resurfaced less often.

Save money because there’s no need to install costly storm water, water collection and detention areas.

More water to the root systems of plants and trees in the vicinity, resulting in healthier vegetation.

Run off to rivers and ecosystems are not harmed by pollution, which is collected at point.

Re-harvesting of water through retention tank systems, hence water conservation.

And most importantly developers will receive credits on green certification programs.

Less chance of erosion and water seeping into basements.

The engineered solution for simple erosion protection.

Armorflex erosion control system provides an alternative for a wide variety of erosion control and drainage projects. Armorflex system is flexible, conforming to ground contours, settling without cracking, and requires limited ground preparation. Armorflex is a flexible, interlocking matrix of machine-compressed, cellular concrete blocks of uniform size, shape, and weight. The matrix is connected by a series of cables which pass longitudinally through performed ducts in each block, making them easy to install over site-specific filter fabric on a prepared surface. Armorflex revetment systems combine the favourable aspects of lightweight blankets and meshes such as porosity, flexibility, vegetation encouragement, and habitat enhancement with no to erodible self-weight and the high tractive force resistant of a rigid lining. Armorflex has proven to be an aesthetic and functional alternative to dumped stone riprap, gabions, structural concrete, and other heavy-duty, durable erosion protection systems.
